Welcome to the PCHS Media Center

MEDIA CENTER STUDENT POLICIES 

Accessibility:Hours: Mon.-Fri. 7:50-3:30


The media center is accessible as a resource center to individuals and groups of students and staff members throughout each instructional day.  Students are expected to make effective and efficient use of the materials in the Media Center.

MAKERSPACE:

  • Students are encouraged to come and visit the makerspace in the PCHS library. There are many different areas for students to explore. Some of these areas include the following: 3D printer, Silhouette vinyl cutting, legos, snap circuits, little bits, and many more. We look forward to assisting you when you visit the makerspace. 

LOAN PROCEDURE:

  • Students must use their school ID to check out books from the media center.
  • Each student is provided one ID free.  Replacement cards are $2.00

BOOKS/AUDIO VISUAL:

  • Books may be checked out for a period of 2 weeks.  There is a 3 book limit. Students will not be allowed to check out additional materials until alll books are returned and fines paid.  Students are encouraged to renew their book for an additional loan period to reduce fines.
  • Reference books and audiovisual materials are not available for students to checkout.  They are to be used in the Media Center.
  • Students are responsible for the cost of any materials which are lost or unduly damaged.  Replacement charges will be made for lost items. 

INTERNET USAGE:

  • PCHS students must abide by the Pierce County School District acceptable use policy IFBC.
  • Computers are for instructional purposes only.  Misuse of internet privileges may result in revocation of these privileges and disciplinary or legal action.

STUDENT USE OF THE MEDIA CENTER:

  • Students are encouraged to use the Media Center before school and throughout the day. 
  • A student must have a signed pass from a teacher to use the Media Center during the school day.

PRINTING POLICIES:

  • All printing is for instructional purposes only.  Please limit the amount of printing to a reasonable number of pages.  Any printing that is not for instructional purposes will be a .10 per page charge.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES:

  • As a service to our students, the Media Center sells school supplies including: pens, pencils, notecards, highlighters, poster board, and paper.

SECURITY SYSTEM:

  • The Media Center has a security system at the front exit.  All printed materials have a security strip that will set the alarm off.  Make sure your resources are checked out before exiting

Food and drink (including water) are NOT ALLOWED in the
Media Center!!!
